Introduction
Within Centegra Plus, preparation areas within a site are used to represent an area of the kitchen where products are prepared.
Preparation areas are used by various features, including:
- Product Preparations as part of the Inventory Management module.
- The Centegra Plus Kitchen Screen.
- The integrated Logwood KMS solution.
Settings within a preparation vary depending on what it is used for.
Creating Preparation Areas
To create a new preparation area within the site:
- Head to Company Settings > Site Setup > Preparation Areas.
- Select [NEW PREPARATION AREA].
Within the preparation area, regardless of what the preparation area is used for, enter:
- Name: Enter a name for the preparation area.
If the preparation area is used as part of the Centegra Plus Kitchen Screen:
- Provider Name: Select Centegra.
- Screen Status: Select the default screen status. For now, leave this OFF; it can be turned ON later.
- Default Display Mode: Select the default from the available options below. This determines the default screen when loading the Kitchen Screen but can be changed via the Kitchen Screen itself.
- Active – Displays all accepted and active tickets.
- Pending – Displays all tickets pending acceptance or rejection.
- Bumped – Displays all tickets which have been bumped.
- Rejected – Displays all tickets that were rejected.
- Seconds to Orange. Enter the number of seconds after the scheduled date time that the ticket header should change from green to orange.
- Seconds to Red: Enter the number of seconds after the scheduled date time that the ticket head should change from orange to red.
- Auto Accept Orders: Select whether tickets will generate as Pending and require users to accept or reject the order, or if they’re automatically accepted.
- Double Bump: By default, tickets are bumped when selecting the ticket body once; if this is enabled, tickets require confirmation of bump after selecting the ticket body before being bumped.
If the preparation area is used as part of the integrated Logwood KMS solution:
- Provider Name: Select Logwood.
- IP Address: Enter the external IP address for your site.
- Port Number: Enter the port number assigned within your network configuration which is defined to allow communication into the Logwood kitchen screen.
- Cook Area: Select the relevant cook area which is assigned to this kitchen screen. Products assigned to the selected cook area will then be routed to this screen. Not that cook area:
- 0 = Products not included within a cook area but must appear on the front of house screen.
- 1+ = Standard cook area for a selection of product.
- Default Screen Number: Select which screen tickets are routed to by default.
- Ticket Window Minutes: For orders placed in advance, to prevent orders appearing on the KMS at the point that the order is placed and sitting on the screen for a long time, enter how many minutes before the order is due that you’d like advanced orders to appear on the KMS.
- Print Customer Detail: If enabled, the customer number and name are shown on the ticket.
- Product Family: Select a product family to restrict which products get sent to the preparation area to print or show on the KMS screens.
- Location: If your site has multiple Centegra Plus, select which location the preparation area is applicable to. If left blank, the preparation area will be applicable for all locations within your site.

- Name: Search for preparation areas based on the name (or part of).
- Show Deleted: Select whether to include preparation areas marked as deleted in search results.
Select [SEARCH], and all preparation areas which meet your search criteria will be listed.

- Status: If used as part of kitchen management system, the status of the preparation area is shown.
- Provider Name: If used as part of the kitchen management system, the KMS provider is shown.
Deleting Preparation Areas
A preparation area can be deleted if no longer required.
You can only delete a preparation area if you have rights to do so. Click Here if you do not have rights to delete but believe you should.
To delete a preparation area:
- Head to Company Settings > Site Setup > Preparation Areas.
- Locate the required preparation area and select [EDIT].
Within the preparation area:
- Select [DELETE].
- Confirm the deletion.
The preparation area is now marked as deleted.
As this is a soft delete, the preparation area can be recovered if required. To do so, locate the preparation area (ensuring that the Show Deleted search filter is set to "Yes") and access the preparation area record again. Select [UNDELETE] and confirm the recovery. The preparation area is now available again.
