The Menu Validation feature, included in each menu, carefully performs a series of checks to help prevent any potential issues that may occur when published.
It's a good idea to check each menu after making changes, so you can provide a smooth experience for your customers when you publish the menu on platforms they can see.
For some Menu Destinations, menu validation is mandatory and must be performed before menus can be published to those destinations.
To validate a menu:
- Head to Menu Management > Menu Builder.
- Against the relevant menu, select [EDIT].
Within the menu:
- Select [VALIDATE MENU].
- Access the Validation Errors tab.
Any validation errors are listed in the Validation Errors tab for review.
Validation errors with a critical error level should be resolved before publishing the menu.
Validation errors vary per menu destination requirements, and can include:
- Price Check: Ensuring that menus items contained within the menu have prices against menu item price levels defined against the menu destination(s).
- Modifier Price Check: Ensuring that modifier items contained within the menu have prices against modifier item price levels defined against the menu destination(s).
- Tax Type Check: Ensuring that all products within the menu are either tax inclusive or tax exclusive, per the default tax type setting against price levels defined against the menu destination(s).
- Empty Category Check: Ensuring that all categories within the menu contain at least one item.
- Sales Description Check: Ensuring that all menu items have a sales description.
- Time Period Check: Ensuring menu availability duration meets the menu destinations minimum and/or maximum requirements.
Additionally, if a location has multiple menus which are are published together, an additional validation step is performed at the point of publication to ensure that menu times do not overlap.
