The KMS PIKS device is designed to emulate an Epson printer, which means it typically does not show up in the list of kitchen printers available for addition. As a result, it is necessary to manually add this device through the till system. This process ensures that the PIKS device is correctly configured to receive orders from the POS
To successfully add the PIKS as a printer, you will need to navigate to the Settings section within the Silver app. From there, proceed to the Kitchen printers option. Depending on your specific setup, you will need to select either a Local or Shared printer. Following that, opt for the Specify Printer Manually option, which will prompt you to indicate how the printer is connected. In this case, you should select the option for a wired connection directly to the router.
Next, you will be required to enter the IP address assigned to the PIKS device. Once you have inputted the correct IP address, select the done option. If the IP address you entered is accurate, you will be directed to the next page of the setup process. However, if the IP address is incorrect, you will receive a notification stating that a printer cannot be found, indicating that you need to verify the IP address and try again.
Upon successful entry of the correct IP address, you should see a list of available printers that have been configured for use at this particular site. It is possible that the list may include multiple printers; however, the only printer that will function correctly is the one labelled KP. This specific naming convention is crucial for the integration to work properly, as the system relies on this designation to identify the printer.
Additionally, in the NCR Silver back office, it is essential that the Kitchen Routing setup also features the kitchen printer device labelled as KP. This consistency in naming is vital for the system's functionality. An example of how this should appear is shown below.
Once you have successfully selected the KP printer, your configuration should resemble the example provided below.
It is important to note that if you attempt to print a test page, it will not be displayed on the PIKS device. Furthermore, ensure that safe mode is disabled for the PIKS to receive tickets effectively.
Once you have configured the items that are set to print through the kitchen routing—such as coffee orders—tickets should start to appear as transactions are processed. It is worth mentioning that the first ticket may not print successfully, so it is advisable to send two tickets initially to ensure that the system is functioning as intended. The output should appear as illustrated below.
