Introduction to Gift Cards
Gift Cards can be used by either manually entering the gift card number into the POS, or scanning a barcode using a barcode scanner or rear iPad camera.
Checking a Gift Card Balance
You can check the balance on a gift card before closing a transaction if the customer would like to know how much is on their card, or if you want to check the status of a card.
- Whilst on the POS press on the three lines in the top left and choose "Gift Card Balance"
- Scan the barcode via barcode scanner / iPad rear camera or enter manually and press done.
- If gift card is active, it will return their balance which can then be printed off for the customers record
- If the card is yet to be activated in the back office it will return the following error. Card activation takes place during the sale via the "New Giftcard" process.
Selling / Reloading a Gift Card
- On the POS, choose the category "Gift Card".
- If the card is not active, you need to add to the balance by choosing "New Gift Card"
- If the card is already active and or being reloaded, you will need to choose "Reload Gift Card" to add to the balance. If you choose "New Gift Card" and the card is already active you will receive an error message when trying to finalise the sale.
- Choose one of the above options and you will be prompted as to how much you want to add the card. Enter the amount and press DONE. You can then scan the card or enter the number manually to then apply the balance to that card.
- Until the balance is finalised the card balance will not be updated, or the card activated. You can also sell products alongside the gift card sale.
- Finalise the gift card sale using your available payments methods, then close the transaction.
Using a Gift Card For Payment
Before attempting payment, please ensure a balance check is done so that you have verified the correct balance is available on the card.
You cannot overtender via the gift card integration and you will receive an error message, this is avoided by checking the balance first.
- On the POS enter the items as per normal and select "PAY".
- From the payment options, press "Integrated Gift".
- Confirm the amount that is to be tendered by gift card.
- Use Barcode scanner / iPad camera to scan the code. You can also enter it manually.
- Press done to close the ticket.
