Can A POS Product Link To An Existing Centegra Plus Product? |
Frequently Asked Questions
Product IDs, PLUs & Codes Explained.
Within Centegra Plus, each product has three identifiers:
- PLU: This is the products unique numerical identifier within your company product database. For POS products, this typically matches the product reference or ID within the POS system.*
- Product Code: This is the products alphanumeric reporting code for your company. By default, this will match the PLU, but typically this can be edited as required.*
- Product ID: This is the unique ID for the product within the entirety of Centegra Plus.
* In some cases, mapping may exist and the PLU won't display the reference/ID that you see on the POS. As a result, the code field may be restricted. You will advised during the onboarding process if this is the case.
How Do "Centegra Plus Only" Products & POS Products Differ?
Within Centegra Plus, there are two types of products that are available:
Centegra Plus Only Products
Centegra Plus products are created and maintained within Centegra Plus. They are independent of any POS system by default, and are typically used for inventory, production, and saleable products that are not required on the POS but required through remote ordering or back office orders.
In some cases, you may create products required on the POS as Centegra Plus Only products first and then map them within the POS later on. This process can vary per POS system; for more information, check out the relevant POS system, Here.
POS Products
POS products are automatically created in Centegra Plus as per the relevant POS integration. Core product settings are inherited from the POS and assigned to the product within Centegra Plus, where additional settings specific to Centegra Plus functionality can be defined.
For more information on POS products, check out information on the relevant POS system, Here.
If required, it is possible to merge a new POS product against an existing product within Centegra Plus using the product PLU. For more details, Click Here.

Can A POS Product Link To An Existing Centegra Plus Product?
If a product that exists already in Centegra Plus later becomes a product required on the POS, it may be possible to merge the new POS product to the existing Centegra Plus product to prevent duplication.
This process varies depending on the POS system, and may even vary if your company is a multiple POS merchant company. For details on this process, check out the relevant POS integration information here, or feel free to Contact Centegra to discuss further.
